Description

JUL ET MAD Paris Néa Les White Collection, Néa is the name of a splendid edifice near the Imperial Palace built by Basil I as the tangible symbol of this era of renewal or “renaissance”, during the Golden Age of the Byzantine Empire. Unfortunately, there are no remains of the magnificent building. According to historians, the construction was renowned for its splendor and architectural richness, its five domes being entirely covered with gold, and the marble walls adorned with precious stones and pearls.

A veritable architectural jewel abundant with inestimable treasures, this building rivaling the Hagia Sophia, played an important role in the palace’s everyday life and ceremonies.

Byzantium, at this period, was at the apogee of its splendor, a veritable economic, cultural and religious center, impressing the rest of the world with its might, its arts and by its quality of life.

Néa, composed around a gourmand accord with rich, but extremely refined oriental influences, searches to portray this lost splendor at the heart of the Imperial Palace, where time flows slowly and the luxury and pleasures offered by the Orient can be fully enjoyed.
